Overview
Our client is Western Australia’s largest independent bulk fuel and lubricant distributor, servicing various locations in the Great Southern, Upper Great Southern and Wheatbelt regions. After a chance meeting in 1982 where Bradley Abbott stopped for fuel and got to talking with the directors of Great Southern Fuel Supplies, they engaged the Abbotts Group for a number of our financial services. Knowing that many of our team have a personal connection with WA’s regional community and an understanding of the unique challenges that come with distance and a family-owned business, it wasn’t long before we formed a trusted relationship.
They are a family-owned and operated business and requires our team to thoughtfully communicate with three generations of family members. We speak several times a week to share relevant financial or industry information and often it is only days in between family members contacting us for advice and guidance.
The Challenge
The business has grown substantially from a small operation located in the Great Southern to a Perth-based location where they operate and/or supply to hundreds of rural outlets and deliver to many businesses and metropolitan retail sites. As such, the business has encountered significant growing pains, especially in relation to staffing. They also recognised that they would need some help negotiating their tax requirements and the purchase and sale of major assets.
